PAINTING PRESERVATION (Easel art fixtures and fittings, in churches castles and manor houses)

A paintconservatist is confronted by two main objectives. Conservation and/or restoration.

The first means trying to stop the decomposition e.g. for example a strong cracking with the result of paint loss. On the other hand restoration in many cases means cleaning of the paintings surface.
The result of removing a highly yellow varnish have many times given a surprising result. Very often old varnish vill cover the original colors and shades which has been hidden for generations. The character of the painting is restored to its original glory.

I hav conducted work in several of our Swedish town and country churches. Roof and wall painting, altar paintings and other ecclesiastical effects. This work has included for example revealing the original painting and original colors, cleaning of decoration artefacts, marbeling etc.

For a costing of a restoration or any other information, please contact me by e-mail.

« Example of how badly damage the paintings sky was. Instead of returning the damage parts after the originals true colors, the paintings formation and composition, somebody in the past decided to paint over the hole sky in pale and grey tone. The overpainting has been removed and the original colors has returned the paintings original character.
