Painting preservationist, reproduction and painter.
Born in Linköping, Sweden.
Live and work in Stockholm, Sweden (foto).
Started my own business in 1989.

BIOGRAFIC

I have trained as a painting preservationist in Sweden and Italy. In Florence I trained under the guidance of Professor P. Gory and also under Professor A. Vermeren in the Uffizi Gallery.
During the 70's and 80's I was employed as a painting preservationist at the National Museum, The Modern Museum and the State Antiquities.
I have also lectured in older painting techniques to students from the Folk University and The Dramatic Institutet.

PAINTING PRESERVATIONIST (Easel art fixtures and fittings, in churches castles and manor houses)

Easel Art:

A paintconservatist is confronted by two main objectives. Conservation and/or restoration.
The first means trying to stop the decomposition e.g. for example a strong cracking with the result of paint loss. On the other hand restoration in many cases means cleaning of the paintings surface.
The result of removing a highly yellow varnish have many times given a surprising result. Very often old varnish vill cover the original colors and shades which has been hidden for generations. The character of the painting is restored to its original glory.

• Art in highlights:
Examples of paint conservation that I have worked in can be found in the National museums collection and the castle collection. A good example is the large collection of a ten piece battle paintings in Karlbergs castle (originally they hang on Läkö castle) painted by Johan Hammer in the 1600. It was a gigantic project, which took several years to complete (each picture in cross section is about 2,.8 x 2,4m).

Painting fixtures and fittings: (in churches castles and manor houses)

I hav conducted work in several of our Swedish town and country churches. Roof and wall painting, altar paintings and other ecclesiastical effects. This work has included for example revealing the original painting and original colors, cleaning of decoration artefacts, marbeling etc.

Castle and Manor houses around Sweden represents a big part of our cultural heritage. Old interiors demand maintenance and care e.g.

• Churches in highlights:
Vadstena cloisterchurch. Churches in Leksand, Vika, Alster, Stöllet, Lekvattnet, Sveg and also Katarina Church in Stockholm.

• Castle and Manor houses in highlights:
Stockholm castle, Drottningholms castle, Ekolsund, Skokloster, and Claestorps, Christineholms and Julita manor houses.

REPRODUCTIONS (paintings of older and younger dates)

Reasons for reproductions can be, for example, inheritance of two siblings who both desire. The one portrait, in some cases it may be desirable to have a photograph reproduced in oil. An establishment or company may want to honour a person of importance whose portrait only exists in a state or a private collection.

It need not only be about portraits, other paintings which are of importance to the individual can also be reproduced.

A good duplicate should always be of the same character and charisma as the original. In order to achieve a good results, the originals special technique be thoroughly studied, also, the performance should give back the originals personality in the copy.

• Assignments:
There have been official as well as private orders of paintings both in Sweden and overseas. Examples of previous purchasers are Uppsala Universitety, Schloss Reinbek in Germany, Dompierre in France, and Birmingham General hospital in England.

MY OWN ARTWORK

My own main work is in distemper and different oil techniques.

Easel Art:
Choice of subject is relevant to inspiration, opportunity and mood.

Decorative painting:
Decoration of empty wall surfaces is always a challenge, booth in manor houses in central Sweden and large farm houses in Hälsingland.

Still life:
In consultation with the purchaser there exists an ability to accomplish a painting of gathered and dear memorabilia, also locations and buildings can be included in the painting.
